Making a difference to individuals, teams, and the whole organisation!

One of the areas that coaching has seen enormous growth and implementation is in organisations. The benefit that individuals have seen from coaching has been extended to team coaching for amplified reach. Moreover, the fastest growing modality of coaching in recent years has been the use of good coaching skills by managers and leaders, thereby expanding the ripple of coaching even further. Finally, more and more organisations are now seeking to develop a coaching culture. This is not only nurtured by the use of good coaching conversations and skills, but also underpinned by the fact that some of the principles and philosophies of coaching, such as mutuality, inclusion, partnering and a focus on people being creative, resourceful, and whole, are being embraced in service of developing the best possible culture for organisations to truly reimagine their future as they navigate the world of today and tomorrow…

At Coach Advancement by Tracy Sinclair, we have had the privilege of working with six different organisations from very different sectors this year, all of whom are leveraging coaching in different ways for the benefit of their organisations and its people.


A long-standing client has invested significantly in training internal coaches in order to offer high quality internal coaching services. This year, they have taken two key steps to really leverage this internal coaching capability:

  1. They have created an internal coaching community which a more defined service offering, internal systems, and processes for how that service is offered and clearer, more consistent communication to the organisation about the service available and its benefits.
  2. They have established opportunities for the internal coaching community to come together for skills refresh sessions and other forms of continuing professional development including training, mentor coaching and supervision.

Food and Beverage

This client believes so strongly in the power of coaching, they have established a year-long initiative offering group coaching opportunities to their senior female leaders around the globe. The key messages from this are “develop yourself, connect and empower each other, have a safe space to coach and be coached”. The coaching groups have been a great place for leaders to network, support each other, share resources, and best practice. Encouraging leaders to take the time to commit to their own development as well as that of others, has really leveraged a sense of support and psychological safety amongst this important leadership community.


This organisation is deeply committed to providing renewable and sustainable energy solutions and is constantly reimagining its future through innovation in technology and services. They have invested in coaching for several years and now are very effectively leveraging the three key modalities of coaching to enable a coaching culture:

  1. the use of external professional coaches
  2. the use of internal coaches
  3. managers and leaders using great coaching skills as part of their leadership role. Internal coaches and managers and leaders receive recognised and often accredited training maintaining high levels of quality and professionalism.


This charity has five strategic aims which align so well with coaching and a coaching culture (understand need, effective support, awareness and understanding, sustainable resource and collaborative working). Even with limited budget and a largely volunteer workforce, the organisation has been very committed to offering coach training skills to managers and leaders and to begin developing an internal coaching service. This initiative has been a core part of a broader culture change approach that has been outlined in three key stages: Coaching Skills and Mindset leading to Coaching Management Style leading to Coaching Culture.

Financial Services

This banking group has a comprehensive and extensive internal coaching community providing coaching services to managers, leaders and teams. They have made a commitment to recognised and accredited coach-specific training and their coaches progress towards their ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and even Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credentials. The ongoing support and development for the coaches has extended to the provision of mentor coaching by internal Mentor Coaches and also to individual and group supervision of their coaching practice.


This school has a long-standing commitment to, not only creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for its students, but also to equip its teaching and bursarial staff with leading edge approaches to education. As a result, coaching skills training has been provided to most members of staff. In addition, two staff members are ICF-credentialed coaches providing internal coaching services within the whole school community. Coaching skills training has not been limited to adults and staff however, and some of the older students have received basic coaching skills training in order to support younger pupils as they navigate their school life. Parents have also participated in coaching skills sessions enabling them to offer even more to support to their children during revision and examination periods.

What is noteworthy with all of these clients is their commitment, not only to recognised training and coaching services, but also to ICF accredited training and ICF-credentialed coaches as they reimagine their future!

Tracy Sinclair, MCC

Tracy Sinclair is a multi-award-winning Master Certified Coach (MCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is also a trained Coaching Supervisor, Mentor Coach and ICF Assessor. Tracy trains coaches and works with managers and leaders to develop their coaching capability. She works as an international Corporate Executive and Board Level Coach, a leadership development designer and facilitator working with a wide range of organisations. Tracy also specialises in working with organisations to support them develop coaching culture. Tracy has co-authored a book Becoming a Coach: The Essential ICF Guide published in 2020 which provides a comprehensive guide to coaching for coaches at all levels of skill and experience, the psychology that underpins coaching and the updated ICF Core Competency Model. In this same year she founded Coaching with Conscience which exists to have a positive impact on society and our environment through coaching. As part of this work, she collaborates closely with MIND, the UK’s leading mental health charity and the British Paralympic Association (BPA). She also offers pro bono personal development and coaching programmes to young leaders (18-25-yrs). Tracy was named as one of the Leading Global Coach winners of the Thinkers50 Marshall Goldsmith Awards of 2019 and was a finalist for the Thinkers50 Coaching and Mentoring Award in 2021. She won the ICF Impact Award for Distinguished Coach in 2023 and is a member of the Marshall Goldsmith 100 Coaches. She was the President of the UK ICF from 2013-2014 and was an ICF Global Board Director since 2016, serving as Treasurer in 2017, Global Chair in 2018 and Immediate Past Global Chair in 2019 and Vice Chair and Director at Large on the International Coaching Federation Global Enterprise Board in 2021.
