Cultivating Your Coaching Presence

Virtual CPD Programme

Programme Outline

Coaching presence is more than a competency – it’s a way of being. In this experiential Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, we go beyond what presence looks like and explore who the coach is when they are truly present. This isn’t just about skills; it’s about the felt experience of presence and how that shapes connection, trust and transformation in coaching.

Together, we’ll explore the roots of presence, how your mindset and nervous system influence it, and how your presence impacts your coaching relationships. You’ll engage in meaningful discussion, embodied practices and reflection that invite you to discover your unique presence—and how to deepen it.

This is a space to explore, experiment and share with other coaches. You’ll leave not only with insight but also with embodied awareness and sustainable practices to support your ongoing growth.

Programme Objectives

  • Deepen Your Understanding of Presence: Explore what it really means to be present in coaching. Go beyond theory to connect with the mindset and inner qualities that support real-time, in-the-moment awareness.

  • Align Mindset and Presence: Discover how your internal state influences your external presence. Learn to recognise and work with the intentions and assumptions that can either support or limit your ability to stay present.

  • Experience Presence Somatically: Build embodied awareness through somatic exercises. Understand how your body signals presence—or its absence—and how to use this insight to stay grounded and connected.

  • Expand and Sustain Presence: Identify your personal edges and barriers to presence. Develop practices that support emotional regulation, coherence and intention-setting—tools that will help you return to presence when it wavers.

Programme Format

This CPD programme offers 7 Core Competency CCE credits and is delivered across two highly experiential 3-hour sessions with time for reflection and integration in between.

  • Session 1: Explore what presence is, how it shows up in your coaching and how your nervous system and internal state influence it. Learn practices to prepare for coaching sessions with more intention and resourcefulness.
  • In-Between Reflective Assignment: A two-part self-directed practice where you’ll experience and apply presence in your coaching or other relational spaces. The insights gained here form the foundation of the second session.
  • Session 2: A deeper, somatic exploration of presence. We’ll look at what enhances or inhibits presence and explore practices to embody and sustain it—particularly when things get challenging.

ICF Continuing Coach Education (CCE)

“This course was a wonderful opportunity to explore deeply what coaching presence means to us as coaches, what impact that has on the quality of the relationship with our clients and impact on their thinking and feeling.  It was beautifully designed and facilitated by Stephen so that we had space for open and rich discussions with colleagues and an authentic exchange of views and insights. It was an excellent learning experience that stimulated many questions for further reflection and left me feeling much resourced to practice becoming present, notice more, return to presence and curious to continue the journey.”

Cultivating Presence Participant
“A superbly run and illuminating course. I thought there was a very good balance of information and time to reflect and discuss, working in small groups and pairs was very helpful. I left with lots of positive thoughts and actions to take forward into my coaching and in general.”
Deborah Moore, ACC
“This course was inspirational. The exercises were impactful and sharing those experiences with others was really useful in gaining deeper insights and reflections. The activity in between sessions really taught me something that I needed to learn. Altogether it shifted some of my thinking and awareness of myself.
